THE DYNAMIC YOGA TRAINING METHOD : Dynamic yoga is more than a style of practice, but a training mehod based on the natural, functional principles of the human bodimind. These introductory sessions clarify the fudamental principles of integrity necessary to safe, effective and satisfying yoga practice. They are suitable for all levels of practitioner, including both teachers and beginners.
THE DYNAMICS OF INTEGRITY these weekend workshops clarify, apply and explore the dynamics of integrity in yoga posture practice. These are the active mechanisms whereby the functional and structural integrity of the body can be accessed and utilised. The key to these dyanmics are the muscular processes esoterically known as the bandhas: which are in practice the dyamics of integrity. This is not only because of the safety they provide by establishing structural suppports to the whle body, but also because of the direct and indirect effects they have on respiraion, perception and awareness. It is suitable for all levels of practitioner, including both teachers and beginners.
ASANA & PRANAYAMA this workshop will explore in practice the intrinsic relationship between human locomotion and respiration, and between asana and pranayama. Each session will include both posture practice with an emphasis on breath awareness, and seated pranayama practice. Both asana and pranayama will be explored from the perspective of the inherent unity of body and mind, matter and spirit, and will reveal the natural relationship they have to each other, and the fertility they offer to each other. It is suitable for all levels of practitioner, including both teachers and beginners.
VINYASAYOGASYA This selfpractice sequence focusses on establishing integrity between the ribcage and the pelvis: ie the spine. This is the key structural aspect of the human body, and the one upon which the effectiveness of yoga posture practuce most directly rests. The series includes xandranamaskar, standing postures, armbalances, strengthening backbends, spinal extensions, forward bends, rotations and inversions. They are sequenced to integrate all the motor muscles of the body into the relationship between the ribcage and the pelvis. This recalibrates the motor musculature to establish integrity in every major joint of the body. This recalibration then allows the body to be opened safely and effectively. The sequence invites a deep sensitivity to muscular sensation, and to the impact of action on the joints, esepcially the spine. Accordingly it promotes a deep fluency with the wisdom of the body, speaking as it does through sensation. This is a direct, practical process of accessing and honouring the internal teacher.
VINYASAVAJRASYA This selfpractice sequence focusses on mobilising the spine. It can be practiced along with vinyasayogasya. While simultaneously strengthening the limbs, shoulder girdle and pelvis, it focusses on gentle backbends that invite deep sensitivity to subtle sensations, as they open and mobilise the spine. This invites deep psyhcosomatic release while simultaneously strengtheing the body parts that support the spine. The series includes xandranamaskar, open standing postures, standing balances, backbends, rotations and inversions. They are sequenced to allow the spine to be gently but fully mobilised without straining any of the supporting joints.
VINYASADYNASYA This selfpractice sequence focusses on awakening and integrating the whole bodimind. Mobilising all the motor joints, it gently awakens all the motor muscles and integrates them into the relationship between ribcage and pelvis. It is a balanced practice for mainatining structural equilibrium, mental clarity and energetic integration. The series includes xandranamaskar, open standing postures, strengthening backbends, spinal extensions, forward bends, rotations and inversions. The postures are selected to maintain rather than open the bhody, although their regular practice will invite the body to open at its own natural pace.
